In terms of food safety, food containers/packaging are not just wrappers but also as a protector so that food is safe for consumption. However, not all food containers/packaging types are safe for the food in them. Styrofoam was chosen as a food container because it is easy to get, not easily damaged and can be thrown away immediately when it is not in use. The method used in this study was to use a questionnaire to find out the knowledge and response of buyers to the dangers of using styrofoam as a food container. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes toward using styrofoam containers as food packaging used by food sellers around the Syiah Kuala University campus. The primary data in this study were obtained from the results of a survey in a study conducted on 50 populations including 25 chicken porridge food vendors and uduk rice traders and 25 buyers. The research instrument used questionnaires and data analysis in a univariate and bivariate manner with the Chi-Square statistical test. The results showed that there was a relationship between knowledge (p-value = 0.005) attitude (p-value = 0.012) and availability of food containers (p-value = 0,157), towards the use of styrofoam containers as food packaging.
